The Wraith is unique; it’s a four- seater, 2 door, pillarless luxury coupe and is “the most powerful and dynamic Rolls-Royce in history” with a turbocharged 6.6-litre V12 producing 624bhp. If that is not enough information the name Wraith comes from an old Scottish word meaning image of a ghost or spirit, a name it shares with the 1938 model from the original Rolls Royce company. Its top speed is limited to 155mph and achieving such speed I suspect would be a cinch (not having been in one) with its two turbos together with a huge amount of torque 590lb ft available from 1,500rpm. This power can shift the Wraith’s 2.4 tonnes to 60mph in 4.4secs which is quicker than many sports cars and hot hatches with similar power-to-weight ratios. Somehow, I suspect this would be achieved in the same serene Rolls-Royce manor complete with the wool floor mats under the throttle!!
It may be the most sporting Rolls ever, but according to Rolls-Royce it is still luxurious. Four individual seats with splendid materials across the surfaces with head and leg room to spare, even in the rear. Should you likely to be photographed don’t worry, the front seats move forward electronically to allow anyone climbing in or out of the rear some additional space and grace.
The Wraith’s starting price is £258,000 but very few Rolls-Royces leave the Goodwood factory without having been made to their buyer’s exact needs; matching colours inside and out, fibre-optic headlining are only 2 items from the extensive list which is probably only limited by the buyer’s imagination!!
