To give the vehicle its full title, ‘the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque’ is a bit of a mouthful, so it’s no surprise it’s commonly referred to as the “Evoque” – Jaguar Land Rover’s smallest SUV.
The original Evoque was unveiled in 2008 with models going on sale in 2011. The first generation Evoque was produced from 2011 until 2018 in three and five-door versions, with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive.
At one point, the Evoque did have three models in its range; a five-door, a three-door and a convertible which was launched in 2017. The 3-door model was discontinued in 2017 while the five-door and convertible models remained in production. The second generation Evoque was launched in 2018 however a second generation convertible model has yet to be confirmed.
First generation Evoques were available in four trim levels — “Pure”, “Prestige”, “Pure Plus”, and “Dynamic”. However, this has changed with the second generation to follow existing Range Rover type model insignia with the Evoque, S, SE and HSE.
The Evoque has been regarded as a successful model with more than 750,000 cars sold globally. When launched, the original Evoque had very few competitors. This is because the small SUV sector had yet to explode into what it is today. The second generation Evoque has far greater competition now than its predecessor did at launch.
Second generation engines available across the range are diesel in 150bhp FWD and 180 and 240 AWD, whilst AWD petrols are available with 200, 250 and 300bhp. There is a petrol hybrid option which uses a 1.5L petrol motor and an 80-kW electric motor.
