About the Mini Electric
On sale in 2020, the long-awaited battery-powered Mini hatchback is available in three trim levels – the Cooper S1, Cooper S2, and Cooper S3. With a driving range of up to 145 miles, the Mini Cooper S Electric starts at £24,400, incorporating a £3,000 government plug-in car grant.
Retaining its iconic design, the Cooper S Electric costs less than its petrol equivalent, despite it being very nearly as powerful. Producing 184bhp, the car can reach 60mph in just over 7 seconds, with great handling and responsiveness.
There’s no need to worry about finding a charging point either. The Mini Electric’s satnav lists the 8,000 charging locations available in the UK. From home, the Mini Electric can be charged to 80% in as fast as 3 hours 15 minutes (with a wall-box) and, with a quick charger – just 36 minutes. That means more time on the tarmac, and less time waiting for full charge.
Don’t think for a minute that the Mini Electric is any less fun or comfortable to drive than its petrol and diesel counterparts. It may be quieter – but it still accelerates quickly enough to put a smile on your face.
