In the ongoing battle to combat air pollution, it has been announced today that all UK petrol stations will be abandoned in an effort to get UK drivers to convert to electric vehicles. As many people already know, electric cars are significantly better for the environment compared to petrol and diesel cars.
The UK’s Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs spoke in a conference yesterday and commented, “I’m delighted to say I can now set a legal target for the UK’s transport to reach zero carbon emissions by 2030. This gives us a real chance to tackle the current climate crisis and change things for future generations. We are aware that investing in zero carbon solutions is not only going to benefit the economy, but will also be advantageous for many businesses and organisations.”
While it’s positive to see that our government is working towards combating the climate emergency, we don’t know how this is going to affect our car insurance customers who are so very passionate about their specialist cars. We do have a policy option for Electric Car Insurance for those who are going to be making the move to an electric vehicle over the coming years.
How will this affect you?
Over the coming years, petrol stations across the UK will begin to disappear and it will become more and more difficult to get hold of petrol. This is when we will begin to see a vast rise in the sales of electric cars across the country as people will no longer have a choice.
Although this may not seem like an ideal option now, in the coming years, when we begin to see a positive change in our environment, it will become apparent that the move was very worthwhile.
We would like to take this as an opportunity to thank all of our very loyal customers, and we look forward to insuring more and more electric vehicles in the near future.
