For those who are passionate about their driving, the Impreza Turbo is a must to drive. Most Impreza enthusiasts want a car with a turbocharger as this is how the car is ‘meant’ to be.
In the UK the car was marketed as the 2.0 Turbo, 2.0 GT Turbo and Turbo 2000 producing a healthy 210bhp back in the early nineties. Unlike it’s Japanese cousins (the WRX and STi), the UK turbo was slightly de-tuned, but we know that the vast majority of cars have had some sort of engine work done, for example from people like Pro-Drive. We are more than happy to place these cars on our Subaru insurance schemes – just make sure you tell us about all the work done. Failing this will cause problems in the event of a claim.
Our rates for modified cars are such that they often are not increased from the standard as we understand so many have been altered.
The 1st generation Impreza Turbo was built until 2000 when it was superceded by the 2nd generation which had versions called Bug Eyes, Bolb Eyes and Hawk Eyes, depending on the headlamps fitted. Each version has its followers and owners are passionate about them.
A completely new body shape came in with the 3rd generation onwards in 2007, but thankfully the fantastic flat 4 boxer engine was retained. We are also very keen to quote for these cars using our Japanese Import car schemes.
