Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7
Following on form the previous Lancer Evo line, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7 was based on the larger Lancer Cedia platform, resulting in more weight, but made up for with multiple changes to the chassis. The differential was hugely upgraded as was the engine torque, although they insisted on claiming only 280 bhp (see previous pages).
As these cars were produced from 2001 to 2003, there are many more about in the UK and it is the Evo VII model onwards that we mostly quote for with our Lancer Evo insurance. An automatic drivetrain was also possible but most of our clients stick to the manual box – the ‘drivers’ car.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8
The Lancer Evo 8 followed on in 2003 and was produced until 2005. For some this is the car to have and we therefore insure many of these under our Mitsubishi insurance. Still with the quoted 280bhp, Enkei wheels, Brembo brakes, Bilstein shocks, and a 5 speed box, all came as standard. Sales of this car were so great that we saw the introduction of ‘proper’ power models – the FQ300, FQ320, FQ340, and the bonkers FQ400. The Ralliart FQ400 produced more than 410bhp, a 0-60 time in 3.5 seconds, and the ability to keep up with a Lamborghini Murcielago at the Top Gear track!
