DR61 Car Insurance
With a DR61 endorsement on your license, you need specialist insurance. As a result of this drink-driving conviction code, you will find it hard to get back on the road with proper insurance. Any insurance quotes you get will be charged at a high premium because of the endorsement. Insurers consider you an increased risk and will up premiums accordingly.
How You Got A DR61 Conviction Code
Receiving a DR61 conviction occurs in very similar circumstances to the DR31 conviction code. You have refused to give permission for analysis of a specimen that was taken without your consent due to incapacity in circumstances other driving or attempting to drive. These circumstances could include being a passenger or being involved in a car accident in some other capacity.
Penalties For Refusing To Authorise An Analysis
If convicted of failing to supply a specimen, your DR61 endorsement remains on your driver’s licence for 11 years from the date of conviction. You receive 10 points on your licence depending on the circumstances of the offence. If you acquire 2 more, and get 12 or more within 3 years, you will be banned from driving.

DR61 Car Insurance
It is essential that you disclose any and all convictions you have when shopping for car insurance. Failure to disclose is a breach of the law and will invalidate your insurance. Plus, if you are stopped by the police, you will receive a driving ban. This will make finding insurers willing to cover you in the future extremely difficult.

Unfortunately, drivers with drink driving endorsements on their licence are faced with insurance premiums that are significantly higher than drivers with clean licences.
