Masterati have recently announced a new soft-top model whilst at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Called the GranCabrio, this is essentially a convertible version of the Pininfarina-designed GranTurismo.
The new Maserati has the longest wheelbase of any convertible currently available. This allows for a roomy interior and extra leg-room for passengers in the rear seats.
Under the sleek design lurks a 4.7 Litre V8, again straight from the GranTurismo. This generates an enormous 434 BHP. The GranCabrio’s performance should be comparable to its hard-top counterpart; however the extra weight added by chassis-stiffening measures may give the convertable a slight handicap.
Maserati plans to start marketing campaigns for the GranCabrio this winter, with cars due to be hitting the roads in Spring 2010.
