Lamborghini have announced their latest vehicle which is a hybrid – however it’s the only hybrid we know that also comes with a 6.5L V12!!
Following on the famous Lamborghini trait with model names – where does the name Sian come from? Sian means ‘flash of lightning’ in the Italian Bolognese dialect – now you know!
The Hybrid element comes from the cars very small electric motor which is rated at 34 hp and is built into the gearbox. This motor is designed to support low-speed movements so the car can be parked and reversed on electricity alone, yet the Sian does not have a separate battery to power it!! So how is it done? – apparently with supercapacitors which is a different energy storage solution instead of the usual battery pack.
The Sian’s total power output is 808bhp which makes it the most powerful Lamborghini ever made. It can do 0-62mph in under 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 218mph.
Delivery of the vehicles will commence in 2020 but I think we will be fortunate to see one as only 63 are being made and they have all been sold each with a price tag of £3 Million.
