The Škoda Superb is a large estate/saloon family car that has been produced by Škoda since 2001. The first generation of the Superb was produced from 2001 to 2008, the second from 2008 to 2015, and the third generation has been in production since 2015.
A face-lifted Škoda Superb was unveiled early in 2019, which included new matrix LED headlights and predictive cruise control with Emergency Assist. Also introduced was a plug-in hybrid version, the Superb iV, launching in the UK in early 2020. This has a turbocharged 1.4 litre petrol engine, and a combined power rating of 214bhp, and an electric range of up to 34 miles.
The current Generation 3 Superb uses four-cylinder turbocharged engines; five petrol engines ranging in size from 1.4 to 2.0 litres, and three diesels of 1.6 or 2.0 litres.
The Sportline Plus variation in the range comes in hatch or estate. The latter of which can have a 2.0 Turbocharged engine that produces 268 bhp, coupled to a 4×4 system – making it Škoda’s quickest (current) production car. This engine is the same one as used in the Golf R – albeit at a different tune level. It has a top speed of 155 mph and acceleration of 0–62 mph in 5.6 seconds.
It’s one of those vehicles like the Škoda Octavia vRS that hides its power very well. It looks sleek yet unassuming but for those of you who know what to look for, it does have the body kit with side skirts and wider boots.
