You will receive an AC20 endorsement on your driver’s licence if you have been involved in an accident and fail to give the particulars or report that accident within 24 hours. Being convicted of this Accident Offence will make it difficult to find competitive car insurance. Licences carrying this endorsement usually represent an increased risk in the eyes of insurance companies. Some car insurance companies may even refuse to issue quotes for drivers with a AC20 endorsement.
How You Got An AC20 Conviction Code
An AC20 endorsement is commonly accompanied by an AC10 endorsement. Any driver involved in an accident must stop and give their details. If they leave the scene and then fail to submit the particulars or report the accident within 24 hours and are caught, you will receive an AC20 endorsement. Any driver who does not stop after an accident will be found guilty of failing to stop after an accident and receive a AC20 endorsement.
Penalties For Failing To Report The Particulars Of An Accident
If convicted, your AC20 endorsement will remain on your licence for 4 years from the date of the offence. You will also receive 5-10 points on your licence depending on the circumstances surrounding the offence. If you acquire more than 12 points on your licence within 3 years, you will also receive a driving ban.
